5. IOW South Natick, about ten miles from Dedham. The name of the village honors John Eliot (1604-1690), who founded Collar's Roxbury Latin School in 1645 and established communities of Christian Indians at Natick and elsewhere. Note, by the way, that the town boundaries in Massachusetts were wiped out during the occupation that followed the failure of the North American Rebellion. The province is divided into twelve districts, including cities, towns and villages as well as unincorporated areas. The districts were named after the largest towns they contained at the time: Boston, Concord, Dedham, Deerfield, Freetown, Nantucket, Newburyport, Plymouth, Salem, Springfield, Stockbridge, and Worcester.
