The Brant Convention was a meeting of delegates from the Conservative Parties of the Southern Confederation, the Northern Confederation, Indiana, and Quebec that was held in Brant, Indiana in September and October 1841.
The Brant Convention was held in response to the Concordia Convention of July and August 1841 held by the Liberal Parties of the four confederations in Concordia, North Carolina. The leaders of the convention included John Dix and Franz Freund of the Northern Confederation, Willie Lloyd of the Southern Confederation, and Charles Lefort of Quebec. Like their Liberal counterparts at Concordia, the Conservative delegates believed that the confederations of the Confederation of North America needed to be more closely knit to deal with the problems revealed by the Panic of 1836. The Brant resolves also called for the Britannic Design to be amended to create a more unified nation. Together with the Concordia Convention, the Brant Convention led directly to the meeting of the Burgoyne Conference of 1842 and the drafting of the Second Britannic Design.
