Douglas Watson of Chiapas.
Douglas Watson was a wealthy planter from the State of Jefferson who relocated to Chiapas after the end of the Mexican Civil War in 1817. Following the foundation of the United States of Mexico, Watson won election to the Senate as a member of the Liberty Party. At the 1833 meeting of the Liberty Party caucus, Watson sought the party's Presidential nomination, joining together with Henry Morris of Jefferson in an unsuccessful attempt to deny the nomination to Miguel Huddleston.
