Charles Dickens by Daniel Maclise

Charles Dickens in 1839.

Charles Dickens (1812 - ?) was a popular 19th-century novelist, best known for The Christmas of the Magi, which concerned the Pilgrims' first Christmas in the New World. A dramatization of this work on the Galloway Playhouse radio and vitavision programs preceded Owen Galloway's famous Galloway Plan speech on 25 December 1922.

Based on the subject matter of The Christmas of the Magi, it seems likely that Dickens emigrated from Great Britain to the Confederation of North America at some point in his life.
