The Jefferson City Tribune was a newspaper based in Jefferson City in the mid-nineteenth century. Monte Benedict is quoted in the 12 March 1866 issue saying, "The lands to the south are veritable storehouses of raw materials, but the peoples of these nations lack the resources to extract them. We in Mexico have these resources. A marriage of their land and our people would surely benefit all."
