Martin Kelsony

Railroad lawyer Martin Kelsony.

Martin Kelsony was a lawyer with the Indiana Northern Railroad.  Under Indiana Northern president Patrick Gallivan, Kelsony and his fellow lawyer Abraham Lincoln were able to extend the railroad northwest into the Confederation of Manitoba, and later southwest into the newly-separated Confederation of Southern Vandalia

While at the Indiana Northern, Kelsony became acquainted with Patrick Gallivan's son, future Governor-General Ezra Gallivan.  During his campaign for Mayor of Michigan City in 1882, Ezra described his campaign strategy of moderating his language in an attempt to win over Conservative and Liberal voters, while ignoring members of his own People's Coalition.  "Why preach to the converted?" he asked Kelsony. "You do not offer bait to a fish that's already hooked."
