Vincent Pierson of the Mexico City Journal.

The Mexico City Journal was a major newspaper in the United States of Mexico based in the capital city of Mexico City. It was one of the opposition newspapers closed down by President Andrew Jackson in the early 1820s for allegedly printing falsehoods about federal abuses. The Journal was not allowed to resume publishing until it retracted the stories.

Newly-elected President Omar Kinkaid is quoted in the 4 November 1869 issue saying, "Mexico needs a president who will rise above party and faction, and judge each issue on its merits. I intend to be that kind of leader."

The 23 April 1875 issue quotes the party platform at the national convention of the Continentalist Party praising President Kinkaid as "a man of vision when others are blind" and calling for "a continuation of prosperity and progress. The Journal goes on to note complimentary references to the Guatemala Canal "which will serve to bind our nation's peoples even more closely together than they are at present" and talk of "our mission in the Caribbean." The 29 April, 30 April, 2 May, 3 May, and 5 May 1875 issues detail the nomination fight between Senator Carlos Concepción and Arizona Governor Thomas Rogers at the Libertarian convention.

Journal columnist Vincent Pierson summed up President Emiliano Calles' Manumission Act in the 13 May 1920 issue: "The nation is still not satisfied that manumission is the answer. The plan seems reasonable, and judging from the temper of the Assembly, it will pass. The courts may rule the law unconstitutional. Or the people, as is their way, may simply refuse to accept the bill. In such a case anything can happen, and President Calles may yet become General Calles again."

The 2 April 1938 issue of the Journal quoted a campaign speech given the day before by President Alvin Silva: "All around us there is poverty, yet we are rich; all around there is weakness, yet we are strong."
