Percy Hargrave

Percy Hargrave is a British historian best known for his six-volume biography of Sir John Dickinson, Dickinson of North America, published between 1960 and 1966. Sobel cites Dickinson of North America in the first chapter of For Want of a Nail . . . , while describing Dickinson's role in the Stamp Act Congress of 1765, and the publication of Letters from a Farmer in Pennsylvania in 1767 (II, p. 645). In Chapter 6, Sobel quotes Hargrave from volume V, p. 510 on Dickinson's tenure as Viceroy: "Albany established the C.N.A.; Dickinson assured its permanence."
